Northern Thailand

Many children of poor Thai farmers and hill tribes cannot go to school or are unable to receive an education because they cannot afford the cost of books, fees and uniforms. Legacy Institute currently sponsors the education of several children of poor hill tribe families. There are currently 10 children enrolled in this program.

Kachinland

Kachinland is a remote, mountainous area located in the far north of Burma bordering Tibet and China. Until a ceasefire accord signed in 1992, Kachinland was at war with the military rulers of Myanmar (Burma). Rich in natural resources, Kachinland is none the less ravaged by decades of war. In many remote mountain villages, no schools exist or the Burmese government education is inadequate. Legacy Institute currently sponsors the education of 5 Kachin children and seeks to enroll others in this program as funds permit.
